Abstract:

Organometallic hybrid perovskites have recently attracted enormous attention for photovoltaic, light emitting and other applications. Combining the advantages of both organic and inorganic materials, hybrid perovskites possess a wide range of extraordinary properties, such as tunable band gap, long carrier diffusion length, and ambipolar charge transport. Furthermore, both single crystals and thin films of hybrid perovskites can be grown via the solution-based routes. Here, I will discuss first the basic synthesis and properties of these hybrid perovskites. Regarding photovoltaic applications, I will discuss the performance of perovskite solar cells using nanooxides of SrTiO3, Zn2SnO4, and Cu2O as charge transporting materials. Basic strategies to overcome the stability issue will be presented. Finally, I will discuss the applications of hybrid perovskites in optoelectronics; particularly, our experiment provides direct evidence on the ambipolar transport of this important class of materials.
